As a Community Bank we have a natural commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and we will continue to undertake such activities for the betterment of the community. The bank has since inception undertaken several community development initiatives in diverse sectors including support for educational activities, as well as youth sporting activities.

Vice President Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka (to the right) and FCB CEO Nathif Of the many issues that fall within our CSR domain, support for education comes at the top and it is because of this that our bank was involved since its first few months into supporting educational functions and forums. We have sponsored a number of such functions in Nairobi, Mombasa and Garissa in addition to running various civic education forums for teachers particularly on matters of Islamic banking and finance. Our bank has particularly been a strong supporter of the Kenya Primary School Headteachers Association (KEPSHA) both at the national and provincial levels. For instance, our bank was a main sponsor of the KEPSHA national delegates’ conference held in Mombasa in October 2008.
A tribute to best performing KCPE students

Speaking at a function held in her honor at the bank’s Mombasa branch, FCB CEO congratulated Monica for the hardwork and wished her all success in her future studies and career goals. Her gift from the bank was a well funded savings account which will also remain free of all charges forever. In a similar function held in Nairobi, Salma Yahya Muhammad was honored for being the best student in the KCPE exams in Nairobi province and the 4th overall best performing student countrywide. She scored 453 marks out of 500. Like Monica, Salma was honored by the bank with a free savings account and a gift bag.
FCB in Support of Community Sports
In our continuing endeavour to support community development initiatives, the Bank sponsored a number of important sporting events. This included the first proper football tournament of its type ever to be sponsored by a bank in North Eastern Province. The tournament which brought together 18 teams from Garissa was conducted on knock-out basis eventually leaving the two strongest teams to face each other in a match that was played at Garissa primary school football grounds on the Eid-ul-Adha day (1429H). “We are a bank conscious of the development of our youth and we will continue to support such social events” said the CEO of FCB in his closing remarks to the match. He also noted that the bank plans to have a similar tournament played in another district of the province during the next Eid-ul-Adha. In another important event, the bank was one of the sponsors of the “Desert Run”, an athletics event held in Garissa. The event which was precided over by Hon. Mohamed Elmi, MP and Minister for Arid Lands was quite successful and achieved its objective. FCB CEO being introduced to a team prior to the start of the match
