Sharia Advisory Board
FCB’s Sharia advisory board consist of Scholars of high repute with extensive experience in law, economics, banking and Islamic finance. The members have been sourced from both inside and outside Kenya. The Board assists in the development and supervision of the Bank’s investment and financing products and services and also ensures that all day – to - day  transactions of the Bank  are carried out in strict compliance to Islamic principles of banking.

Our Sharia board comprises of the following scholars:

Dr Hussain Hamid Hassan – Chairman
Dr. Hassan received his PhD from the Faculty of Shari’a at Al Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt in 1965. He also holds two Degrees in Law from the International Institute of Comparative Law, University of New York and two Degrees in Law and Economics from Cairo University. Dr. Hassan is the author of more than 21 books on Islamic law, finance, economics, social studies and art, in addition to more than 400 research articles on these subjects. He is currently chairman to the Sharia boards of more than 15 Islamic banking institutions globally including some of the biggest Islamic banks such as Dubai Islamic Bank, Sharjah Islamic Bank, Emirates Islamic Bank etc

 Sheikh Mohamed Abdi - Member
Sheikh Mohamed is a leading and well respected Kenyan Sharia scholar. He is a graduate of Hadeeth from the Islamic University of Medina in Saudi Arabia and a highly respected Imam in Nairobi. As a community leader and a scholar well versed with matters of Islamic financial jurisprudence, Sheikh mohamed has long served as a local advisor to Muslim businessmen in the country on matters of financial dealings and the requirement for strict Sharia compliance.

Sheikh Badru Ja’ffar -Sharia Board Secretary
Sheikh Badru Jaffar is a known and well respected Kenyan scholar on matters of Islamic Jurisprudence. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sciences of Hadeeth from Madina University in Saudi Arabia, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Education from the University of Nairobi. He is a member of Nairobi Jamia Masjid Council of Scholars and serves as Secretary General-Kenya Council of Imams and Scholars; in addition to being a committee member of the National Executive Council of Majlis Ulamaa.

Sheikh Ishak Ismail Ahmed-Member
Sheikh Ishak is a known and well respected Islamic scholar and a founder of Major Islamic Institutions in Kenya. He studied at Falah Daarain Islamic University in India. He is currently the Chairman of Maahad Daawah Organization and Park Road Masjid .He is a member of Majlis Ulamaa Kenya, Parklands Masjid and Jamia Masjid.He is also the founder of Al Furqan Training Institute and Maahad Daawah Organization.

Dr. Abdallah Mohamed Abubakar-Member
Dr. Abdalla is known and well respected scholar of Islamic Studies. He has a doctorate of Philosophy in Theology and Philosophy from National University of Malaysia and Masters of Education in Quran Commentary and Philosophic traditions from King Saud University, Riyadh. He is currently a lecturer at College of Islamic Studies in Kisauni, Mombasa.
